There are several options for beach enthusiasts. Charlestown Town Beach features golden sands and offers panoramic views of Block Island Sound. East Beach stretches across three miles of prime shoreline, extending from Quonochontaug Neck. As one of the least developed state beaches in Rhode Island, it has limited parking and a few changing rooms. Despite its simplicity, it remains one of the state's most stunning seaside gems. Charlestown Breachway State Beach is renowned as one of South County's top saltwater fishing spots. The beach also offers camping facilities and boat launch areas. Blue Shutters Town Beach is a popular, family-friendly destination known for its beautiful setting and stunning views of Block Island Sound. Quonochontaug Beach, also known as Quonnie, offers swimming and excellent fishing at the breachway. This undeveloped, privately owned barrier beach is managed by the Quonochontaug Beach Conservation Commission.
Enjoy nature at the Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge, renowned for its diverse migratory bird species and rich history. Spanning 227 acres, the park offers a variety of recreational amenities, including a state-of-the-art playground, ball fields, a ten-speed bike course, tennis and basketball courts, picnic areas, a dog park, and a freshwater swimming pond with a public beach.
